It is the last league game of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) for both Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings and the side that wins this match guarantee themselves a top-two finish and a place in Qualifier 1. With Gujarat Titans’ comprehensive defeat to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, the top two places are still very much up for grabs. MI are only two points behind the top place while PBKS are behind by one. The losing side will have to settle for a third or fourth-placed finish depending on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s result in the final league game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.
Both MI and PBKS are certainly looking like the two most complete teams of the league stage this season. It will be an interesting competition between Punjab’s high-scoring batting lineup and MI’s extremely miserly bowlers.
